Learn The Traditional Art of Basket Weaving
Workshops are a way for you to learn the traditional art of basket weaving. Our trained weavers will assist you through the process from beginning to end. Depending on the basket you choose, the workshop time can range between 2 hrs to 4 hrs. A great learning experience for anyone over the age of 5 and you get to take the basket home to show your friends and family. If you are choosing to make an ash basket, please allow us a couple days notice to prepare the wood.

One Day Workshops
Weaving with reed and decorating with your choice of bark from PEI forests of sweet grass from our salt water marshlands. You will be taught by professional basket weavers who are connected to a history that dates back to the late 1800’s here on PEI.

Demonstration
For groups – we will do a fifteen minute demonstration on the old traditional ash splint basketry, beginning with the splitting of ash log – chipping the pieces – then pounding the splints apart and shaving a splint.
Pre-booking is required
Participants will leave with knowledge of wood preparation for ash splint basketry and its history that dates back to before 250 bc
